I quite liked the fact that they were fairly small but had plenty to discover. No taking Temple of Doom Characters to Raiders. However I did really like the idea of returning to the same level for a bonus version of it with the same location but an entirely different setup.īut no free play. There were no collectible secrets in the levels either. I've actually always found it kinda misleading, how the first level you play is basically the most traditional Lego level in the entire game. But it still suffered in some ways - like the final level, it had to be a boss fight, meaning that any temple exploration was not possible in the format. This formula, while fine on paper, severely limited the game in my opinion - for example, there was no mine cart sequence as they had nowhere to put it in (it's literally on the box lol - same with the boulder from Raiders), whereas in any other Lego game there's no strict level formula so there'd be no reason not to put it in.Ĭrystal Skull suffered least in this regard as it had 3 times the number of levels as the others - its levels could easily fit in any other Lego game if they shoved every 2.5 levels ish together and cut some of the filler ones. Every chapter had basically the same set of levels: a somewhat traditional one, a car one (those were the worst imo), a brawl one, a puzzle room one and a boss fight one. I just found the levels so disappointing, especially coming after Indy 1.
